Humility

If you haven't learned humility, you have learned nothing in life, and you'll keep on suffering.

Without humility it's impossible to learn, and ignorance is the primary cause of all suffering. Out of pride and arrogance, which are the main symptoms of ignorance or a simple lack of humility, we tend to point fingers and blame everyone but ourselves when confronted with situations that are there to teach us humility; we blame everything and everyone including GOD but we fail to see the lesson we are meant to learn, and we make no progress and stay stuck in a loop of pain, suffering and blaming.

Until we learn humility there is nothing of real value that we'll be able to learn. The Bhagavad-Gita As It Is also points that even when approaching a good teacher we have to do so in a humble manner.

Bhagavad-Gita As It Is
Chapter 4: Transcendental Knowledge / TEXT 34

"Just try to learn the truth by approaching a spiritual master.
Inquire from him submissively and render service unto him.
The self-realized soul can impart knowledge unto you because he has seen the truth."

Also when declaring what real knowledge is, on Chapter 13: Nature, the Enjoyer, and Consciousness, the very first word is amanitvam—humility. Humility is the beginning of knowledge

Bhagavad-Gita As It Is
Chapter 13: Nature, the Enjoyer, and Consciousness / TEXTS 8-12

Humility, pridelessness, nonviolence, tolerance, simplicity, approaching a bona fide spiritual master, cleanliness, steadiness and self-control; renunciation of the objects of sense gratification, absence of false ego, the perception of the evil of birth, death, old age and disease; nonattachment to children, wife, home and the rest, and evenmindedness amid pleasant and unpleasant events; constant and unalloyed devotion to Me, resorting to solitary places, detachment from the general mass of people; accepting the importance of self-realization, and philosophical search for the Absolute Truth-all these I thus declare to be knowledge, and what is contrary to these is ignorance.
